=== Character Development === Eliza’s journey is one of both self-discovery and self-destruction. As the novel progresses, we see her go from a seemingly reliable and composed individual to someone grappling with her own flaws, guilt, and fear. Stava masterfully unpacks the layers of Eliza’s psyche, creating a character who is as empathetic as she is flawed. The secondary characters in ''Count My Lies'' also provide rich emotional depth. Whether it’s Eliza’s family, friends, or even the mysterious antagonist, each person plays a pivotal role in shaping the unfolding drama. These characters help to highlight the complexity of relationships and the various masks people wear in order to protect themselves.
