=== Structure and Format === The Premier League operates on a '''promotion and relegation''' system with the English Football League (EFL) Championship. Each season, the bottom three teams in the Premier League are relegated to the Championship, while the top three teams from the Championship are promoted to the Premier League. The league follows a round-robin format, where each team plays 38 matches (19 home and 19 away) over the course of the season, typically spanning from August to May. Points are awarded as follows: three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion.
