=== Early Life and Rise to Stardom === Kyrie Andrew Irving was born on March 23, 1992, in Melbourne, Australia, while his father, Drederick Irving, was playing professional basketball in the country. However, Irving grew up in the United States and developed his basketball skills in New Jersey. His talent was evident from a young age, and he attended Montclair Kimberley Academy before transferring to St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he became a standout player. After a stellar high school career, Irving took his talents to Duke University. In his lone season with the Blue Devils, he quickly became a sensation despite playing only 11 games due to injury. Irving’s scoring ability, court vision, and basketball IQ earned him the top spot in the 2011 NBA Draft, where he was selected first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
