=== Early Life and High School Career === Kevin Wayne Durant was born on September 29, 1988, in Washington, D.C. Raised by his mother, Wanda Durant, after his father’s early departure from the family, Durant grew up in a neighborhood where basketball was not just a sport but a way of life. Durant’s early exposure to basketball came from watching his childhood friends play, and soon, he developed his own passion for the game. His long frame, combined with his incredible athleticism, set him apart from his peers from an early age. Durant played for the National Christian Academy and later transferred to Oak Hill Academy, one of the most prestigious basketball schools in the country. It was here that Durant began to draw national attention. His talent was undeniable—he could score from anywhere on the court, from long-range shots to attacking the basket, and his height allowed him to be a defensive force as well. Durant was named to several All-American teams, and by the time he graduated, he was considered one of the top high school players in the country.
