=== Early Life and Career Beginnings === Jose Quintana was born on January 24, 1989, in the Dominican Republic, where baseball reigns as the national sport. Like many players from the island, Quintana grew up surrounded by the game, playing it from a young age. His professional career began when he was signed by the New York Mets as an international free agent in 2006. However, it wasnβt until 2011, after he was released by the Mets, that Quintana's career truly began to take off. The Chicago White Sox took a chance on him, signing him as a minor league free agent. This proved to be a pivotal moment for Quintana. In 2012, he made his MLB debut with the White Sox, marking the start of a successful career that would span multiple teams and continue to grow in stature.
