=== Early Life and Overcoming Adversity === Jimmy Butler was born on September 14, 1989, in Houston, Texas, to a mother who struggled with substance abuse. At the age of 13, Butler’s life took a dramatic turn when his mother kicked him out of the house. He was forced to live with friends, moving from one home to another, often without a stable living situation. Despite these hardships, Butler never gave up on himself or his dreams. During his high school years, Butler attended Tomball High School in Texas. He didn’t emerge as a standout player right away, and his raw talent went largely unnoticed. He was often overlooked by college recruiters, which is one of the reasons he was a late bloomer in basketball terms. However, his relentless work ethic and competitive nature became evident over time, and he caught the attention of college scouts. Butler went on to play at Tyler Junior College for one season before transferring to Marquette University. It was there that his basketball skills began to shine, and his determination to overcome his past was evident. At Marquette, Butler helped lead the team to the NCAA Tournament, and his tenacity on both ends of the floor made him a standout player in the Big East Conference. By his junior year, he was considered one of the top college players in the country, earning All-Big East honors.
