Godwin’s football journey began at Middletown High School in Delaware, where he was a standout athlete. His impressive performance earned him a scholarship to Penn State University, where he played college football for the Nittany Lions. At Penn State, Godwin displayed his ability to perform under pressure, especially during the 2016 Rose Bowl, where he had a breakout performance, catching nine passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns.

Over his three-year college career, Godwin recorded 2,404 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, which solidified his status as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft.
